Carers monthly drop in

The programme alternates between day and evening sessions to try and capture those carers who may still be working or find it hard to come out during the day. All dates and time are noted until June

The Drop In offers peer support but also sometimes speakers and directed conversation on topics that carers wish to explore. Come chat, or listen and learn. As it is a drop in  no booking is required and it is not necessary to attend all sessions – just attend when you can.

Dementia Immersive Experience Training Ulster University – Magee Campus

Mid December always brings one thing for the DEEDS team – training the first year Paramedic Course students in dementia awareness. We offer an immersive experience to the students so that they can come and walk in the shoes of someone living with dementia. This helps to build understanding and creates further empathy and this learning will support the students on their placements after Christmas where they may meet people living with dementia out in the community. Thank you to Andrew Chambers and Deirdre Harkin for all their support in helping us to organise the day. And also to the DEEDS volunteers: Marie, John and Rachel. We couldn’t do what we do without our amazing volunteers.

Thank you to all our DEEDS Volunteers

THANK YOU DEEDS VOLUNTEERS

A huge thank you to all our volunteers for your support to the DEEDS Project and  your gift of time to our members every week, to special events and large scale events, and for the work in our training programmes. You are all part of a bid to make the city and district dementia friendly. We couldn’t do it with out you. Have a wonderful Christmas.

Best wishes for the festive season from Sinead, Wendy, Kathleen and Eilish.

Christmas Dinners with our residents

This Christmas we hosted dinners with our Tuesday Luncheon Group and our DEEDS members from across the city. Both dinners were hosted at the healthy living centre with a surprise visit from the big man himself.

Thank you to the tasty reel in Creggan for the lovely dinners and to all the amazing staff and volunteers that looked after everyone on the day.

Have a great Christmas and we wish you all a healthy and happy new year! See you all in 2024
